The most common and loved sports in the area is Football. Cricket have been played by few only recently. Football is played by one and all. There many tournaments organized by different Villages and different Clubs. At the Sub-divisional headquater, Amlarem the inter-Club Football Tournament is being organized annually by the Amlarem Sports Club, in which all Football Clubs of  the area participated which held during the months of November-March. Sometimes villages/Clubs  organised Football Invitation Tournaments during rainy months also. The Amlarem Sports Club is a  recognized and affiliated to the Meghalaya Football Association, Shillong. The Amlarem Sports Club represents the area and participates in tournaments outside the Subdivision like at Jowai and Shillong.  

At Dawki, the mini border Export & Import town in the area, Football Tournaments are being organised by the Bakur Sports Club and Ryngksai Clan annually during winter months. Boat Rowing and Water polo sports are being organised by local organization in the months of February and March annually (it is generally known as BOAT ROWING COMPETITION) in the  famous river Umngot near Dawki itself.     

Schools in the area are good in football and in many occasions they got chances to participates in inter- school outside the area; recently one school from the area (from Padu village school) reached Shillong as one of the team qualifying for the Subroto Tournament.
