Road communication is well developed in War Jaintia (except for certain remote corners). The area could be reached either from Shillong directly via Pynursla to Dawki (one of the main  Export & Import  route of Meghalaya) through NH40 (Shillong-Pynursla--Dawki/Tamabil road) or via Jowai  through NH40E(Dawki-Amlarem-Jowai road). In recent pass, when Dawki-Amlarem-Jowai Road was not taken by the central Govt., the said road was totally damaged due to Coal Laden trucks movement and the people had suffered very much as the public vehicles found it very difficult to pass through this road. Now transportation is very good and bazar buses/vehicles from the area reached Jowai/Shillong easily and in time i.e. it took only 3 to 3. 1/2 hours to reach Shillong via Amlarem. The same from Shillong to the area. The distance from Shillong to Jowai is 63km and from Jowai to Amlarem (NH40E) is 27 km and from Amlarem to Dawki(NH40E) is also 27km;and from Amlarem to Muktapur it is 34km.

At Jowai there are light passenger vehicles/Sumo-Indica services to Amlarem (the Subdivisional Headquater of War Jaintia) from 6a.m to 4 p.m. and also from Amlarem to Jowai for the whole day in addition to Bazar buses/Mini buses in the morning and evening. Then from Amlarem to different villages/to any tourist spots in the area. At Dawki there are Taxi services for the whole day in addition to buses services in the morning and evening  to Amlarem/Nongtalang, etc. but transportation are more easily available during market days. The Dawki local market fall on Muchai (the day which is locally known) and Jarain local market (near Amlarem) and Muktapur local market (situated closed to the border on the proposed Border road from Dawki to Sunapur) falls on Mulong.

At Shillong there are passenger vehicles both buses and Sumos in the morning and evening to Dawki and also Sumo services the whole day depending on the availability of passengers and vice-versa. From Shillong to Pynursla there are Taxis and Sumos service for the whole day and vice -versa. From Dawki to Pynursla for the whole day depending on the availability of passengers and vice-versa. It takes only 2-1/2 hours to reach Dawki from Shillong and Pynursla is half way between Shillong and Dawki(NH40).
